Imagine the Potters taking in Sirius as their own son when James comes back over summer, worried for his best friend’s safety. Imagine them setting up the spare room and telling Sirius that he’s always welcome to stay for as long as he wants. Imagine James convincing Sirius to finally move in (after one particularly cruel event at the Black’s household), insisting that his parents don’t mind.
Imagine Sirius’ relief as he unpacks his suitcase, looking around his new room. Imagine him taking in the scents of the place that he could now call his ‘Home’. Imagine him finally feeling free, relaxing in his own skin as he easily molds into the family.
Imagine Mrs Potter noticing the marks on Remus’ skin when he’s round to visit James and Sirius. Imagine her watching him closely, at first fearing that his parents abused him. Imagine her heart as she finally pieces together the mystery of the young, intelligent and kind boy that is always round at her house and instantly fussing over him without letting him know that she knows.
Just imagine the Potters being the most caring parents, taking in their son’s closest friends no matter their baggage and treating them as their own.
